Matisse, Picasso and Frank Stella use striking shapes
and bold colours for 2016.
Think icicle and calsilica beads for your new
jewellery. This vibrant dramatic style is also combined
with quieter, classic colours, like lilac and grey - try
agates in your designs. Iced coffee is another neutral
colour talked about in this season’s palette.
Light blues remain popular,
reflecting the serenity and naturalness of spacious open
skies. Likewise, marine and aqua blue is still in
fashion, representing tranquility and escape to holidays
in these turbulent times.
Don't Forget
Classic
However, there is also a revival of timeless jewellery.
Like pearls and brooches - especially with a modern
style, like Chanel's new pearl chocker pearl necklaces.
Pearls have risen 369% over a decade, according to the
Knight Frank's Index. I've noticed them increase
wholesale in China
too. This trend will continue as natural pearls become
scarcer dragging cultural pearls up with them. Silver
and gold pearls especially combine this classic with
contemporary style.
Make Personal
Jewellery For the Young
Harrods and all the top London
stores are expanding their jewellery departments. This
means that jewellery is again selling well, and
confirmed by analyst Mintel who said year-on-year
UK
jewellery sales were up 1.2% with estimated annual sales
of £4.15 billion in 2015. Apparently this increase is
driven by young women between 16 to 24 purchasing
jewellery themselves - especially charms and other
personal designs.
